Never look at race the same way again.

This unique and exciting interactive program screens the extraordinary PBS documentary “Race: The Power of an Illusion,” combined with presentations and discussions led by an expert panel of professionals. Important for social workers at all levels, in all settings - clinical, community, administrative, and institutional - it will raise awareness of the historical impact of race on U.S. society and the ways that race continues to be a factor in client-worker relationships.

Participants will...
  • Learn the social construction of racial groups in the U.S. and understand the fallacy of race as a set of biological traits.
  • Learn the historical impact of the social construction of race and racism in U.S. society and the implications for social work practice.
  • Begin to apply the social construction of race and the importance of understanding intersectionality to social work practice with diverse clients and communities.

Approved for 5 CEs for Social Workers, LMHCs, and LMFTs.
