Dr. Lance Laird, Assistant Professor, Boston University School of Medicine. has a medical anthropology and theology background. His research at Boston University focused on the multiple intersections of Muslim identity with healing professions and public health in the US. He currently teaches a course on “Culture, Migration and Mental Health.” He is involved in a project with the Greater Boston Muslim Health Initiative and Boston Medical Center to improve understanding and coordinate responses to domestic violence in the local Muslim community.

The NASW-MA Global Shared Interest Group provides a forum for social workers with an interest in social work practice and issues in other countries around the globe. The group facilitates collaboration and sharing of skills and experiences amongst individual social workers interested in developing social work capacity in under resourced countries through teaching, practice, research, advocacy and the provision of resources.
NASW-MA's Shared Interest Groups are an NASW member benefit and are only open to NASW members. Non-members are welcome to attend a meeting or two before deciding to join NASW and the Shared Interest Group.
