Presenter: April Berry-Fletcher, LICSW

This training is developed for mental health providers and supervisors.  Participants will learn about the substantive changes to the fifth revision of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM-5).  The training includes an overview of the new diagnoses, the revisions that have been made to how diagnoses are clustered, as well as the diagnoses that have been eliminated.  The main focus of the training is toward conditions most commonly encountered in community mental health. The embedded and online assessment tools that accompany the DSM-5 will also be discussed and case examples will be provided.

Participants will learn...

  • Differentiation between DSM-IV-TR and DSM 5 diagnostic taxonomies.

  • Use of embedded assessments in the DSM 5 as well as Level Two online assessments.

  • Use of DSM-5 assessments to establish treatment goals and those to track treatment progress.

Approved for 3 CEs for Social Workers.
