Statement by the NASW Massachusetts Chapter and its
Criminal Justice Shared Interest Group in response to
the recent events in Baltimore:
"The conditions highlighted by recent civil unrest are not unique to Baltimore, nor are they to Ferguson or Staten Island. Economic oppression and racial injustice are glaring issues across the country, and it is incumbent upon the social work profession to play its part in alleviating those conditions. NASW-MA is committed to raising the minimum wage, ending mandatory minimums, and enacting meaningful prison reform in Massachusetts, and it stands by NASW's Maryland Chapter in their efforts to heal their city."
