CBFS Team Clinician & CBFS Team Leader.  A key component of Bay Cove’s Community Based Flexible Supports (CBFS) services is its nine Flexible Support Teams, which consist of licensed clinicians, peer specialists, addictions counselors, rehabilitation and employment specialists and registered nurses, who all work collaboratively in supporting each individual. Physician Health Monitoring Associate (4 days per week).  Physician Health Services (PHS), a comprehensive Physician Health Program in Waltham, MA is dedicated to improving the health, well-being, and effectiveness of physicians and medical students. Our program provides confidential outreach, assessment, intervention and consultation for a range of concerns including substance use, behavioral/mental health issues, stress, burnout, physical illness and problematic workplace behavior. Working with PHS physician directors, the Physician Health Monitoring Associate will manage a caseload of monitoring clients with health-related issues, and confer with stakeholders invested in the well-being of the client, to support and maintain the health and professional viability of the client. Working with the Director, the PHS management team, the client’s treating clinician(s) and institution, the PHM Associate will implement formal monitoring contracts and agreements, and direct the client to the necessary evaluative and therapeutic resources. A related advanced degree, preferably a doctoral degree in the field of mental health, current Massachusetts licensure, and five or more years of related experience are required. Experience working with physicians and/or medical students in a health care or medical school environment is desirable. Experience and/or qualifications in the evaluation and remediation of individuals with substance use disorders, mental health disorders, unprofessional behavior and other occupational health challenges, and the ability to work effectively and assertively with highly intelligent, strong-willed individuals who may be unaccustomed to the oversight and accountability of a formal monitoring program is preferred. The ability to evaluate, formulate and triage to the next appropriate level of care is important, as is the ability to work effectively and collaboratively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team. Experience collaborating with medical schools, a variety of health care organizations, and, government agencies such as the Board of Registration in Medicine is desirable. Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills are necessary. Competence in managing individuals with personality problems and in utilizing practical methods to foster behavior change is essential. Understanding of confidentiality laws and requirements that govern disclosure of patient and/or peer review records is important. Sensitivity and experience identifying overt and subtle boundary issues and the ability to maintain clarity regarding these issues, along with the ability to set consistent limits, uphold expectations and requirements of monitoring, and to follow through with agreed upon consequences, is critical.
