NASW-MA works actively with National NASW and various Massachusetts coalitions and advisory groups on issues directly impacting the social work profession and the communities in which we work. Major issues of interest include but are not limited to mental health parity, universal health care, economic reform, and budget line items affecting human service organizations.
In addition, the Chapter is committed to advocating on issues impacting diverse groups. Diversity is understood to include “race, ethnicity, national origin, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, marital status, political belief, religion, immigration status, and mental or physical disability” (NASW Code of Ethics, 2008).
