The Social Work Therapy Referral Service is a project of the Massachusetts Chapter of the NASW. Since 1983 this free telephone referral service has connected thousands of people with licensed independent clinical social workers (LICSWs) across Massachusetts. The Referral Service includes nearly 300 therapists in private practice, experienced in helping clients of all ages improve their lives. SWTRS provides a broad array of services:
- Personalized Referrals - Social workers, helping professionals and consumers can call SWTRS to find an individual, couple or family therapist in Massachusetts for themselves, for clients or for friends.
- Group therapy referrals - SWTRS lists over 75 groups run by experienced LICSWs. For a partial listing or call (617)720-2828
- Reduced-fee therapy for social work students - Social workers attuned to the needs of social work students can provide therapy at moderate fees.
- In-Service Training - Social workers are available to come to your work place to provide training on subjects such as managing stress, parenting, and trauma, eating disorders, and other clinical issues.
- Supervisory Consultation - Social workers with supervisory experience are available to consult with therapists about their clinical work.
- Developing Your Private Practice - Experienced social workers are available to help clinicians start and develop a private practice.
- Speakers Bureau - Social workers are available to speak to professional and community groups on a variety of topics such as parenting, stress management, relationship skills, divorce, loss, and many more
- Organizational Consultation - Social workers are available to come to your work place to help staff deal with team building or changes in the workplace such as lay-offs, death of a co-worker, or traumatic events.
- Professional and Personal Coaching - Many social workers are trained as coaches to help clarify goals and develop a plan of action to reach those goals; we can help you find a coach.
- Family Business Consultation - We can refer you to a clinical social worker knowledgeable about the particular problems faced by family members working together in a family business.
