LEAD Information and FAQs

Welcome to LEAD! This year we will begin our LEAD program at Emmanuel Church of Boston. Check-in opens at 8:30 am. We recommend that you arrive early. Food and drinks are not allowed in the sanctuary, but there are coffee shops in the area where you can purchase and enjoy drinks and food.

At 10:40 am we will do a “March for Social Work Values” to the Massachusetts State House. You have the option to hold signs that represent social work values, feel free to make your own and bring them. Please reach out to one of the volunteers at LEAD if you have any questions or concerns during the march.

Lunch will be provided at the State House followed by optional lobbying. Due to the high number of individuals who will need to pass through security, we highly recommend that you wear no metal and bring no more than one small bag and empty pockets.

Registration will close on Monday, March 12, 2018, at 11:59 pm. There will be no on-site registration. Due to limited capacity in the Emmanuel Church we encourage participants to register as soon as possible.* Want to encourage others to attend? Download our registration flyer.

Please direct any questions or concerns to Katie O’Leary at koleary.naswma@socialworkers.org or 617-227-9635 x13.

*If you require accommodations please indicate that on the registration form or call us at 617-227-9635 before end of day on March 5, 2018.

  • Red Line to Park St – with an additional 10 minute walk
  • Orange Line or Commuter Rail to Back Bay – with an additional 10 minute walk

MBTA Subway Map

If you are unfamiliar with downtown Boston, exit the T station and use your phone’s GPS for walking directions to 15 Newbury Street, Boston, MA 02116. All stations listed above are less than ½ mile from Emmanuel Church.

Legislative Agenda

During the plenary session at Emmanuel Church you will learn about NASW-MA's current legislative agenda. Then, at the State House, you will have the opportunity to lobby with your elected officials, advocating for the bills and issues that most interest you. View NASW-MA's legislative agenda for LEAD 2018 here.
