Title: Aligning Clinical Best Practices And Documentation With Managed Care Requirements For Improved Client Care | 1.5 CEUs
Date: Thursday , May 13, 2021 (12-1:30pm)
Speaker: David Nefussy, VP of Business Development at Spectrum Health Systems, & Lisa Blanchard, MA, LMHC
Description: This is a presentation that can be used for both NEW and existing behavioral health providers to develop the skills and knowledge needed to not just provide excellent clinical care, but to ensure appropriate documentation that supports ethical billing and meets medical necessity criteria. Specific assessment, progress note, and treatment plan documentation skills and formats will be reviewed. Too often excellent clinicians documentation does not reflect the care given and can put the clinician or program at risk of services not being covered or reimbursed. Clear documentation that supports the charges submitted and the services provided ensure coverage in a managed care environment. - The topics included are as follows: 1. Medical Necessity Requirements and Diagnostic Codes 2. Provider education on documentation and billing appropriate codes 3. Documentation skills for assessment, treatment plans and progress notes to support billing 4.Level of Care criteria documentation using ASAM criteria in SUD treatment. 5. Avoiding errors in clinical practice that may put you at risk 6. Prior Authorization requirements and documentation 7. Managed Care issues and how they impact clinical providers and client care 6. Preparing for Value Based Care and Integration of Medical and Behavioral Health
