Title: Prison Reentry: A Social Work Perspective

Description: This webinar will explore complex clinical, policy, advocacy, and ethical issues that arise when offenders reenter the community from prison. Dr. Frederic Reamer will highlight key challenges related to behavioral health, housing, employment, supervision, social support, and voting rights, among other issues. He will apply key social work and ethics concepts, and discuss their implications for practitioners who work with offenders in community-based and institutional settings.


Speaker: Frederic Reamer, Ph.D. 

Frederic Reamer, Ph.D. is professor in the School of Social Work, Rhode Island College. Dr. Reamer has spent many years as a social worker in federal and state prisons. He served on the State of Rhode Island Parole Board for 24 years. Dr. Reamer is the author of many books and other publications on the subjects of crime, parole, and professional ethics. He chaired the national task force that wrote the NASW Code of Ethics and served on the code revision task force.

  • Apply key social work and ethics concepts.

  • Implement strategies designed to enhance offender reentry.
