Trauma Survivors often suffer from somatic re-experiencing of traumatic events in the form of dissociative and intrusive symptoms. Body oriented somatic resourcing techniques, such as those espoused by sensorimotor psychotherapy combined with the empowering modality of group psychotherapy can support survivors to gain mastery over these post traumatic symptoms.

Participants will learn to:

  1. Recognize somatic manifestations of hypo and hyper aroused states.
  2. Learn and practice somatic resourcing techniques to support clinical work at levels of optimal arousal.
  3. Explore practical applications of this structured group treatment model to participants’ unique clincal settings.

Jayme Shorin, LICSW is currently serving as the Team Leader at Cambridge Health Alliance’s Victims of Violence Program, where she has specialized in the treatment of psychological trauma for the past 27 years. She also maintains a private practice for psychotherapy and supervision in Cambridge, MA. Jayme is a certified Educator for in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, trained in Internal Family Systems Therapy, and has presented nationally and internationally on the treatment of psychological trauma.

Approved for 3 CEs for Social Workers and LMHCs.
