JOB DESCRIPTION STATEMENT

 

TITLE: Director of Clinical Practice                        

 

POSITION STATUS: Full-Time

 

REPORTS TO: Executive Director, MA Chapter

 MAJOR FUNCTIONS:

 Under the strategic direction of the Executive Director, MA Chapter, the Director of Clinical Practice is responsible for NASW-MA’s clinical practice, managed care and insurance company questions, licensing, and private practice matters. The Director engages with members to ensure all clinical inquiries are resolved. The Director also ensures accurate and up to date clinical information is provided by the Chapter in all electronic and print materials and serves as a liaison to outside stakeholders on clinical issues. This person reports to the Executive Director.

 BASIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Answers member questions via email, phone, and our bustling Private Practice Google Group regarding clinical matters, ethical concerns, and licensing.
  2. Serves as liaison to the Board of Social Work registration and both commercial and public insurers, including but not limited to, updating members regarding changes and assisting in advocacy as needed in collaboration with the Political Director on related legislation and regulations.
  3. Partners with the Events and Program Manager to plan the Chapter’s two-day biennial Symposium event (next one in 2020).
  4. Writes the Managed Care News column for Social Work Voice and enlists volunteers to submit articles for the Clinical Practice Today column and other related articles.
  5. Staffs the Chapter’s HMO/Managed Care Commission, Therapy Matcher Commission, Social Workers Assistance Network Commission, Education Center Commission (with the Events & Program Manager), Symposium Planning Committee, and Greater Boston Private Practice Shared Interest Group (while providing regular updates to other regional Private Practice SIGs).
  6. Manages the Online CE Institute, ensuring that existing content on the platform is relevant and identifies opportunities for new content.
  7. Recruits authors for the Chapter’s FOCUS Continuing Education Courses (written CEU program) and speakers for CE lunch and learn webinars.
  8. Supervises the NASW-MA Chapter continuing education approval program.
  9. Updates the Private Practice Manual annually.
  10. Supervises MSW interns.

MINIMUM WORK REQUIREMENTS:

 

Skills:

  1. Excellent verbal and written communications skills, including the ability to effectively communicate and make presentations to a wide variety of audiences.
  2. Ability to lead and collaborate in a complex environment with multiple competing priorities.
  3. Ability to plan, organize, and manage a wide array of business-related services.
  4. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships and to build credibility and trust throughout the organization.
  5. Strong problem identification skills, including the ability to problem solve and generate creative solutions, exercise common sense and sound judgment, and make effective decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
  6. Detail oriented and the ability to think critically.
  7. Ability to work independently, but also as part of multiple teams.
  8. Comfortable using electronic, internet-based platforms; coordinating webinars; and Microsoft Word and Excel.
  9. Commitment to diversity, inclusion, and social justice.

 Knowledge:

  1. Master’s degree in social work and LICSW required.
  2. NASW membership preferred, but not required.
  3.  Massachusetts field of social work, existing resources, and licensing.
  4. Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook.

 Experience:

  1. Minimum of 3-5 years of related work experience.
  2. Experience in clinical practice, preferably including supervision.
  3. Sales, marketing, and budgeting a plus.
