Save Black Lives and Transform Public Safety

Contact Your Legislators Today!

Like you, we’re eager to make meaningful progress toward racial justice. Help us by urging your legislators to advance An Act Relative to Saving Black Lives and Transforming Public Safety (SD.2968/HD.5128) . This emergency bill, introduced by Senator Creem and Representative Miranda just last week, aims to reform Massachusetts’ policing practices by setting stricter standards and increasing accountability for law enforcement.

Contact your state legislators today.

If passed, this legislation would:
  • Establish unnecessary use of force as a civil rights violation
  • Prohibit the use of choke holds, tear gas, and other dangerous weapons and tactics
  • Create a “duty to intervene” when officers witness an abuse of force
  • Ban no-knock warrants
  • Require data collection and reporting procedures to prevent the hiring of abusive officers
  • Increase transparency by making police misconduct investigations and outcomes public record
This important emergency legislation is one of many steps needed to ensure equity and justice in our communities.

Take action now.

In the Commonwealth, we must prioritize saving Black lives . We have the ability to position Massachusetts as leader in police reform and prevent unnecessary deaths by advancing this bill (SD.2698/HD.5128) this session. Take action today to advance racial justice and reform policing practices.
