The National Association of Social Workers, Massachusetts Chapter is seeking a highly motivated, dynamic, creative Northeast Regional Coordinator

 

ABOUT NASW MA CHAPTER

The Massachusetts Chapter of NASW (NASW-MA) is the major professional social work organization in the state. NASW is committed to the mission of advancing social work practice and to promoting human rights, social and economic justice, and unimpeded access to services for all. NASW MA Chapter’s 6,500 members work in a broad range of settings including hospitals and other health care settings, community agencies, government, academia, business, nursing homes, schools, and private practice. NASW-MA welcomes and encourages diverse applicants.

 

TITLE: Northeast Regional Coordinator    

 

POSITION STATUS: Part Time, 4 hours/week, contract position

 

ISSUE DATE: April 27, 2018

MAJOR/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Collaborate with members to expand and sustain the Northeast Regional Council and serve as its primary contact person. Regional Councils organize events in the Regions that serve the members’ needs and that promote the goals of the Chapter. Maintain regular contact with Council Chair(s) to determine key topics for meetings and events in the region. Field member questions about NASW and regional activities. Serve as liaison to the NASW-MA Chapter.

 

BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Develop, coordinate, and assist in membership recruitment and retention initiatives in the region and in collaboration with executive director and other staff
  2. Promote student and newer professionals activities including the Student Ambassador Program and the Mentor Program and coordinate with schools of social work in the region for NASW’s presence at various events and programs throughout the year
  3. Develop CE programs in the region which include: submitting CE applications/budgets, securing locations, arranging refreshment and A-V, coordinating registration etc.
  4. Plan non-CE networking and social events – quarterly
  5. Serve as resource for governmental relations staff to promote legislative advocacy (district meetings) and PACE activities
  6. Submit occasional articles for Social Work Voice magazine and e-newsletter
  7. Participate in monthly regional staff calls with executive director and other key staff
  8. Other programmatic initiatives as assigned and relevant to the region

 

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS:

Skills and Knowledge: Marketing and/or community organizing experience. Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook. Demonstrated initiative, proven ability to empower volunteers, write and speak convincingly, and work well as a team member.

 

Requirements: Lives or works in the northeast region of Massachusetts, has access to a car, has access to a computer, is preferably an NASW member.

 

Experience: 2 – 5 years experience, MSW or BSW preferred but not required, community organization and membership development skills.
