Updated 7/9/18

Thank you for using the NASW-MA Chapter Collaborative to provide CEUs for social workers. As you may know, the Massachusetts Social Work Licensing Board will be changing the licensing period for all MA social workers, effective 10/1/18. The current licensing period is 10/1/16 - 9/30/18, but the new licensing period will be based on an individual social workers’ birthday and will be 2 years from their next birthday as of 10/1/18. For example, if a social worker has a birthday on April 3, their next licensing period would be 10/1/18 - 4/3/21 and the following licensing period would be 4/4/21 - 4/3/23.

Because of this change, the Collaborative is changing the period that a NASW-MA authorized CEUs are valid, as of 10/1/18. The CEUs for standard programs will be valid for 2 years from the date of the program, or the last date of a program if it spans more than a day. The CEUs for Distance Learning programs will not change. The CEUs for Grand Rounds will be the same as standard programs in that the individual sessions’ CEUs will be valid for 2 years from the date of the session. The only difference for Grand Rounds being that any sessions that are in the current licensing period (10/1/16 - 9/30/18) will only be valid for the current licensing period. Anything after 9/30/18 will be valid for 2 years from the date of the session.

For Notice of Repeat Use Forms, the original program will be approved for 2 years from the date of the original program, or the last date of the original program if it spans more than a day, and can be repeated any number of times during that 2-year period, but the repeat date CE certificate would be valid for 2 years from the repeat date, or last repeated date if the program is more than a day.
