NASW-MA Internship Program

Are you a second year or advanced standing MSW* student? If you are seeking a macro-placement for the school year or the summer, please see what types of projects and opportunities we offer our students (subject to change each year). *Please note we review BSW and first year MSW student applicants on a case-by-case basis.

Legislation and Advocacy:

  • Work closely with the Political Director to plan our annual lobby day (LEAD) as LEAD coordinator
  • Support the Political Director with advancing the legislative agenda by joining her in meetings with Representatives in the State House
  • Sit in on various coalition meetings (i.e. Mental Health Coalition, Juvenile Justice, Reproductive Justice, etc.)
  • Participate and observe public hearings in and outside of the State House
  • Work on candidates’ campaigns during election years
  • Join the Legislative Advocacy or Political Candidate for Political Endorsement committees

Clinical Issues and Continuing Education:

  • Assist the Continuing Education and Clinical Issues Director to plan Symposium, Conferences, and other continuing education/programming events
  • Recruit and manage volunteers for these events
  • Attend various commission meetings (i.e. HMO/MCO Insurance, Education Center, Therapy Matcher, and Private Practice Shared Interest Groups)
  • Disseminate pertinent clinical information for our members as licensing regulations change
  • Research/write for special clinical/practice projects

Membership Recruitment and Retention:

Coordinate the Student Ambassador Program and recruit current MSW students to become student ambassadors for the following academic year, including attending networking events and working with current student ambassadors to leave fliers on campus.

 

Other Projects:

 

 

  • Write articles and recruit other writers for our newsletter magazine Social Work Voice
  • Attend quarterly board meetings and participate in strategic planning
  • And more!
