SYMPOSIUM 2020 MOVED TO 2021!

 

The National Association of Social Workers, MA Chapter has officially rescheduled Symposium 2020: Voices of Empowerment and Social Justice, as a virtual conference, on Thursday, April 15, and Friday, April 16, 2021, with our keynote speaker Dr. Joy DeGruy. All participants have received noticed that ALL registration items (including workshops and intensive selections) have automatically transferred to the new event date, at the current cost to attend. Online registrations are opening soon! More information on the 2021 virtual conference is coming soon.

  

Due to the current COVID-19 crisis, our Chapter made the decision to POSTPONE Symposium 2020 plans. At NASW-MA ur primary concerns is the well-being of our social work community. Click here for more details on COVID-19 Clinical Information.

REGISTRATIONS REFUNDS  

 

Online Registration for Symposium 2021 will be opening soon! As a reminder, unless you requested a refund, ALL Symposium 2020 registrations and event sponsors and exhibitors have carried over to the virtual 2021 event, at no additional cost to participate.

MESSAGE TO OUR SPONSORS, EXHIBITORS, AND ADVERTISERS:

We are hosting Symposium 2021: Voices of Empowerment and Social Justice virtually on Thursday, April 15, and Friday, April 16. We are prepared to keep all sponsor, exhibitor, and advertiser registrations for the postponed event in 2021, at the current cost to attend, if you would like to maintain your registration. Alternatively, we can refund you and we will waive all credit card processing fees. For refunds, please email us at Symposium.naswma@socialworkers.org and allow us 7-14 days to process your request.

 

STUDENT POSTER SESSION

Overview

The Student Poster session will have three components: 

  1. A poster created using a single PowerPoint slide;

  2. A 3-6 minute video of your discussion and presentation of your poster;

  3. Participation in a brief summary presentation of your poster, followed by a Question & Answer that will be live on April 15, 2021 from 6-7:30 pm.

 

Please note: Prior to being accepted into the Student Poster Session, interested participants must submit a proposal. The deadline for submissions is 12:00 PM on February 16, 2021. It is not necessary for you to create a poster slide or video for your proposal.  See below for more information.


 

Student Poster Session Application Process

 

  Step 1: Poster Session Proposal

  • Click here to submit a Student Poster Session proposal.
  • Only students whose submitted proposals are accepted will be invited to participate in the Student Poster Session at Symposium 2021.

Step 2: Poster Session Slide Development

  • If your poster proposal is accepted, you will then need to create a poster session slide. Instructions for creating a slide can be found here.

  • Students will be notified by February 22, 2021 whether or not their proposals have been accepted.


Step 3: Pre-Recorded Poster Presentation

  • Poster presentations will be pre-recorded and emailed to Michael LaBerge at mlaberge.naswma@socialworkers.org by 9 am on April 5, 2021. Your pre-recorded presentation should be 4 to 6 minutes long. Presentations exceeding this length will be ended after 6 minutes.  

  • Click here for tips and instructions on recording your Student Poster Session Presentation. 

  • Your poster and video will be posted for viewing on the NASW-MA Symposium webpage 1 week prior to the Student Poster Session presentation. Judges, who are experienced social workers from a variety of settings, will review your recorded poster presentation prior to the live Q&A.


Step 4: Live Q&A

On April 15 from 6:30-7:00 pm, there will be a live Student Poster Session presentation. Each presenter or group will select one person to give a brief summary of 30 seconds to 1 minute of their poster. After each student has presented, there will be a Q&A session facilitated by a social worker. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask you questions about your poster presentations and research.

We are aware that our social work members and attendees need to meet their continuing education requirements for licensure this year. We are providing high-quality virtual programming to you now through the end of 2020.

If you previously registered for the 2020 Awards, all registration items have automatically transferred to the rescheduled event on Tuesday, December 1, 2020.
