This conference will describe the deadly impact on nursing home residents during COVID. There will also be an opportunity to hear how nursing home residents used this experience to respond in a constructive manner. Other aspects of this conference will be about public policy, Independent living centers, immigration, and solo agers. Join our Keynote Address "American Eldercide: Woe in US Nursing Facilities, in the COVID Era and Five Years Later", with Margaret Morganroth Gullette, Ph.D., author of American Eldercide: How It Happened, How to Prevent It (2024); and of Ending Ageism, or How Not to Shoot Old People (2017).

 

  • Participants will learn about the on-going situation of Massachusetts nursing homes during COVID which allowed many people to become ill and to die in facilities.
  • Participants will learn about issues which impact community based older adults and people with disabilities and effective ways to respond.
  • Participants will learn how nursing home residents found constructive and positive ways to respond to the COVID crisis.
