Join us for Politically Active While Physically Distant: Advocating for Others and Self During Unprecedented Times. During this unprecedented time of physical distancing, staying socially connected and civically engaged is more important than ever, especially for social workers. This program will explore local opportunities to advocate for others and ourselves during the current global health and economic crisis. We will pay special attention to the Massachusetts political and legislative landscape in this election year. The core of social work is social action, which is needed now, especially for already marginalized, oppressed, and under resourced communities. As social workers we know we must recommit to social activism while learning new digital and virtual tools to stay connected on the issues that matter most to clients, our communities, and our practice. No advocacy experienced required for this session as it is designed for social work across the spectrum including, students, retired social workers, and social workers actively working in all types of milieus.
