At a time of global crisis, we are all confronted with a complex series of losses. This program will address the core grief issues confronting social workers and effective methods of supporting their clients and themselves.
As social workers we are called to an unprecedented challenge in our work while at the same time dealing with our own increased vulnerability. Our task is to assist our clients in honoring the multitude of their losses while facilitating hope. In addition, we must develop our own coping strategies which allow us to provide the continuity of presence and support to those we serve. This program will provide an overview of some of the critical components to successfully navigate these tasks.
This program will include the racial, religious, and cultural implications of this COVID-19 crisis by addressing the differential racial statistics of those infected as well as the impact of the coronavirus on maintaining bereavement rituals.
