This webinar invites attendees to pause and give appraisal to their ways of being; that is, how are you taking care of you? The global pandemic, persisting social action for racial justice, and impending presidential election have created a social climate like none before. Particularly for BIPOC social workers, the compounded, intersectional influences of psychological, emotional and physical stressors of lived experiences and professional practice have reached a tipping point. This session offers a space for validation and affirmation, and creation of a plan for balance and well-being, which is all intended to support and maintain professional social work practice. Speaker: Wendy Champagnie Williams, PhD, LICSW | Co-sponsored by the Greater Boston Association of Black Social Workers. Learning Objectives: - Offer a multi-faceted affinity experience (e.g race, gender, professional identity) to affirm and validate one’s intersecting personal and professional lived experiences
- Promote awareness to the importance of wellness and self-care to avoid burnout in professional social work practice
- Explore and share culturally relevant techniques, resources, and best practices towards balance and overall well-being supporting professional competency
