1.5 CEUs Webinar: Learning From Lived Experiences of Trauma, with Amy Ebbeson, LCSW

Wednesday, November 16 (12:00 - 1:30pm EST)

Relational trauma, especially from childhood experiences, is at the root of the majority of mental health issues. American Culture frequently invalidates psychological trauma and its life-long consequences. This program will give a high level overview of the implications of this and offer strategies for social workers seeking to support impacted individuals, including themselves.

  • Recognize short- and long-term psychological, cognitive, behavioral, and physical indicators and consequences of psychological trauma.

  • Reflect on conditions- cultural, familial, and personal that influence experiences and perceptions of trauma and abuse.

  • Identify, evaluate and apply strategies for coping, managing stress, and self-care to improve personal mental health and engagement with others.

Speaker bio: Amy Ebbeson is the Clinical Director of Worcester ACTs (Addresses Childhood Trauma) and a Lead Consultant for the Collaborative for Youth and Community Justice at Clark University. She has Master’s in Clinical Social Work from Boston University and has worked in a variety of social service agencies, including the Department of Mental Health. For more than 20 years she has taught about Mental Health and trauma at the graduate and undergraduate level. She has served as Chair for the Worcester County Commission on the Status of Women and is the 2018 recipient of the YWCA Erskine Award for her commitment to eliminating racism and empowering women.
