Speaker: Kineret Kandelker, Psy.D

This training explores the concept of racial trauma, and the impact that it has on BIPOC (black, indigenous and people of color) individuals. Participants will be offered techniques to openly discuss race and assess racial trauma with their clients. The training will discuss coping strategies and treatment.


Learning objectives: 

  • Define racial trauma and symptoms.
  • Discuss strategies to discuss race and assess racial trauma.
  • Explore coping strategies and treatment. 

Speaker: Kineret Kandelker (she/her/hers), Psy.D, is a licensed clinical psychologist, working at Roger Williams University as a therapist and a trainer. Dr. Kandelker approaches her work using a social justice lens. Her work includes providing individual therapy, creating and conducting presentations for students and staff, creating outreach programming for students with marginalized identities, and supervising predoctoral trainees at the Counseling Center. Dr. Kandelker created the Global Scholars Program, which was designed to support incoming international students, to increase their sense of belonginess at the University. Dr. Kandelker completed her doctorate degree at William James College and trained at Corrigan Mental Health Hospital and Community Care Services in RI.
