Join us for a discussion of the book "White Rage: The Unspoken Truth of Our Racial Divide" by Carol Anderson. We encourage participants to secure their copy of the book from BIPOC-owned bookstores. See ideas here. Objectives for our discussion are as follows: - Participants will have the opportunity for an interpersonal dialogue process where they will they will discuss the impact of racism and oppression in their practice.
- Participants will develop increased understanding of racism and discrimination, and the impact that racialized violence has as a form of primary and secondary trauma.
- Participants will examine the role that an understanding of the concepts of intersectionality, race, gender identity and sexual identity can have in the delivery of effective trauma informed care.
This discussion will be facilitated by Gary Bailey, Assistant Dean for Community Engagement and Social Justice and Professor of Practice, Simmons University School of Social Work.
