LAN: 2025-2026 Legislative Survey!

Tuesday, September 10, 2024

Believe it or not, the 2023-2024 legislative session has come to an end! And first things first: thank you all for your dedicated advocacy for our legislative priorities! If you wrote to your legislators, now is also a great time to thank them for their advocacy. We had some great wins this session, all thanks to you and we hope you will help us in the session ahead by helping us figure out our legislative priorities for 2025-2026 by taking this quick 3 minute survey.

To recap we had the following advocacy wins:

  • An Act to create and implement a Massachusetts Flexible Supportive Housing Subsidy Pool Program (majority of the bill was passed in the Governor’s Housing Bill)!

  • An Act relative to universal free school meals (passed through the FY24 budget)!

  • Department of Secondary and Elementary Education (DESE) updated sex-ed curricula frameworks!

  • A 10% increase in cash assistance grants in the FY25 budget going into effect April 2025!

As we look ahead to the next legislative session, we need your help! Our priorities are determined by what is important to social workers in the profession, but we need your input to understand what's most important to you. Please take 3 minutes to fill out this short legislative survey and identify what you think demands our collective attention.

This informal survey will allow us to prioritize and help assist the process of setting our agenda for the next session by demonstrating what you all think is the most urgent. If you take the time to fill out this survey, we can make sure that your priorities align with our legislative priorities.

Want to come speak to chapter staff and LAC co-chairs to discuss policy priorities in depth? Attend our legislative open house on September 13th at noon! Email Brianna for the zoom link.
